—Helping others… why should I help others first?

I’m a business… That doesn’t feel right.
It feels weird and even counterintuitive to give first.

I understand why it might feel that way at first, but I think giving first is a great opportunity to build trust with your (potential) clients.

I remember a conversation I had last week with a potential client of mine. We were on the phone and he was having trouble with his branding and the positioning of his business in the market. And we talked for two hours before we even discussed my services, my packages or my prices.

I was able to give him ideas and feedback on how he’s doing things right now, what could be his unique selling point and how he can position his business in a way that helps him stand out from the crowd.

So giving first was a great way to create a connection with my potential client. He got the chance to get to know me a little bit better. It’s like he was able to dip his toe in the water first before deciding to dive in (which he eventually did.)

Your ability to give first will attract potential clients. When you give first, people find that attractive:

I think these days people do business with you because of who you are and what you can do for them. The personality you bring into the mix, the relationship that you build with your client, makes all the difference in the world.
